Friends of the Rosary:
We honor today two saints mentioned in the Gospels who lived in the first-century in Jerusalem at the time of Christ: Saints Joseph Arimathea and Nicodemus.
Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy member of the temple council and a secret follower of Jesus.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin, who defended Jesus’ cause.
Saint John even says that it was to Nicodemus that our Lord said, “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus prepared Jesus’ body, wrapped it in linen, and placed him in the tomb owned by Joseph.
