Friends of the Rosary:
We read today (Matthew 1:1-17) about the genealogy of Jesus, the forty-two generations that stretch from Abraham to Christ.
It means that the Word Incarnated dwelt among our dysfunctional human family.
In the list of the ancestors of Jesus, we see a bit of everything: from Ruth, who was not an Israelite but a Moabite to Rahab, a prostitute in Jericho. Not a genealogy of saints certainly!
Jesus shows His merciful love to people who are sunk in sin — all of us!
The Son of God knows about our struggle and His approach is through love and mercy.
This is the good news of Advent and Christmas: the Divinity pushing into our sinful family with the mission of rescuing us and giving us an eternally joyful life.
