Friends of the Rosary,

As we await the coming of God Incarnate, we read today in the Gospel (Luke 1:57-66) about the birth and the naming of John the Baptist—the prophet filled with the Holy Spirit while in his mother Elizabeth’s womb.

As Jesus said (Matthew 11:11), “among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist.” He was Elijah revived.

Later, we heard about John the Baptist walking in the wilderness of the desert, preparing people to repent and the coming of the Kingdom of God.

As Bishop Barron explains, John went away from the old, corrupt temple, and acted as a “priest of a new temple, the temple of Jesus himself, the new Holy of Holies.”

This Christmas let’s reflect on the mysteries “that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us” (Corinthians 6:19) and a Savior has been born to us!

Ave Maria!
Merry Christmas!
