In today’s Gospel (Mark 4:1–20), Christ Jesus tells the parable of the sower.
A man goes out to sow and throws the seed on the path, on rocky soil, on thorny soil, and finally on good soil.
There are different types of soil, which apply symbolically to ourselves.
God is a farmer, sowing the seed of His word and His love on the path, the rocks, and the thorns, pouring out His love on those who are least likely to respond.
As Bishop Barron writes, “God’s love is irrational, extravagant, embarrassing, unreasonable, completely over the top.”
