July 10, 2021, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) | Comment: Faithful Saturdays

For centuries, since the early Middle Ages, Saturdays have been devoted to the Virgin Mary. It’s a preparation day for Sunday, dedicated to Jesus Christ. It’s the day of the Resurrection when we attend the Holy Eucharist and pray the Glorious Mysteries.

Mary is the preparer, the Daughter of God the Father, the Mother of God the Son, and the Mystical Spouse of the Holy Spirit. The Most Holy Mary draws Christians closer to Jesus.

The Holy Spirit descends through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Today’s Joyful Mysteries prepare us to imitate Mary by serving God and finding Jesus.

We keep holy this day instead of the Sabbath of the old Jews. We sanctify Saturday in honor of the glorious Virgin Mary who remained faithful and unshaken despite a sword that trespassed her heart — like the prophet Simeon forecasted in the fourth Joyful Mystery.
