Friends of the Rosary:
Today is Memorial Day is two prominent English saints: John Fisher and Thomas More.
St. Thomas More was an intensely spiritual man, eminent lawyer, literary scholar, father of four children, and Chancellor of England.
He was beheaded on Tower Hill, London, in 1535, because, as a public servant, he refused to approve King Henry VIII’s divorce and remarriage, and the establishment of the Church of England.
As a Catholic martyr, he defended with his life the idea that no lay ruler has jurisdiction over the universal Church of Christ. He did not compromise his own moral values in order to please the king. A timeless example of personal integrity and moral courage.
Jesus, I Trust In You!
