Friends of the Rosary:
Today, June 27, the Universal Church of Christ, celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
This Marian advocation revolves around the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, painted on wood, with background of gold, in the thirteenth century. It is Byzantine in style and it represents the Mother of God holding the Divine Child while the Archangels Michael and Gabriel show the instruments of His Passion.
Our Lady appears full of sorrow, expressing compassion and sympathy for us in our fears.
The icon was brought to Rome towards the end of the fifteenth century by a pious merchant. Since then, crowds, including Popes, have venerated the icon, and many graces and marvelous healings were obtained through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin.
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pray for Us!
