Friends of the Rosary,
On May 1st, we honor St. Joseph the Worker, while the secular world celebrates International Workers’ Day.
Pope Pius XII established the feast in 1955 to honor the dignity of labor and provide a model and protector for all workers.
He countered socialist ideology and emphasized the Christian understanding of work as a means of providing for one’s family and contributing to the greater good of society.
As a carpenter, Joseph supported his family. By the daily labor in his shop, offered to God with patience and joy, St. Joseph provided for the necessities of his holy spouse and of the Incarnate Son of God, and thus became an example to all laborers.
He is viewed as a model of dignity and value in human labor. He is the patron saint of workers.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
