Friends of the Rosary,
Today is the feast day of St. Matthias, Apostle and Martyr.
After the Ascension of Jesus, St. Peter proposed to the assembled faithful that they choose the twelve disciple of Christ. It was to fill the place left vacant by the apostasy of Judas the traitor.
Lots were drawn, with the result in favor of Matthias, ultimately chosen by the Holy Spirit.
According to the tradition, St. Matthias labored in Ethiopia. He was martyred, receiving “the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.”
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
