Friends of the Rosary,
St. Peter’s love for Jesus Christ surpasses his sins. Three times the apostle denied the Lord, and so three times Jesus asked him to reaffirm his faith, as we read today. (Jn 21:15-19):
“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
He then said to Simon Peter a second time,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
He said to him the third time,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time,
“Do you love me?” and he said to him,
“Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”
Our Lord tested Simon (Peter), asking what he would do. Jesus wants love in action.
The message is clear for all of us: the test of love is action. We follow the Lord with real acts of charity and forgiveness.
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
To Jesus through Mary!
