Today is Pentecost Sunday. The Eternal Father sent into the world the Word of Truth incarnated, Jesus Christ, as well as the Spirit of Sanctification through the Holy Ghost.
The advent of the Holy Spirit happened right after the ascension into Heaven of Jesus. The apostles and disciples, around 120 in total, along with the Mother of God, were gathered in one place.
Suddenly, a sound from Heaven and a violent wind came. A second visible miracle took place, as well. It consisted of tongues of fire that descended upon each one present in the house. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in foreign languages (Acts 2, 1-4).
It was the completion of the work of redemption and the fullness of grace for the universal Church and its children. The dwelling of the Christian Church, the mystical body of Christ, started at that moment.
The descent of the Holy Spirit was also the gift of faith and hope for all nations.
