Friends of the Rosary:
We read in the Gospel today that one of the disciples asked the Lord to teach to pray just as John the Baptist taught to his followers. And Christ Jesus revealed the key prayer for our Christian pilgrimage on earth (Lk 11:1-4):
“When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test.”
When we say “Father, hallowed be your name,” we pray that God might be honored above all.
“Your Kingdom come.” We envision among us a kingdom characterized by peace, forgiveness, and compassion.
“Forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us.” Our incapacity to forgive damages our capacity to enjoy a fulfilling life.
Ave Maria!
