Did we take advantage of the suffering caused by the COVID virus to amend our lives and turn into the eternal truth and freedom of Jesus and Mary? There is the personal dimension and the collective dimension. It doesn’t seem that collectively the true faith has advanced. We are not seeing massive conversions. During His public ministry, Jesus Christ posed a timeless question: "Will the Son of Man, when he comes, find faith on earth?" (Luke 18:8) The Devil and its allies seek to disrupt prayer since it is what nourishes faith. Our success as individuals is based on prayer. Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His divine Mother is what makes us flourish, as individuals and as a society. Our arrogance and lack of humility bring us often to re-invent the reality of the human being, engineering many times anti-life ideologies and philosophies. Naturally, they disappear after they are proved wrong and only after destroying the souls of many. We've seen this across history. In Matthew 24:35, Jesus Christ said: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." We must stop offending the Creator and put our trust in Him. Jesus, I Trust in You! It’s a powerful message. It highlights first the Divine Mercy. God comes to offer us the opportunity to amend our sinful life, repent and believe in Him. This way we achieve peace and salvation. However, if our choice is to deny the truth of Jesus and embrace darkness, the consequences are terrible: eternal damnation and the fires of hell. You might wonder why someone in his right mind would prefer darkness? That’s craziness. Well, John explains in easy-to-understand language that it happens because these wicked people don’t want to be exposed. They chose to remain on the evil and reject Jesus Christ and his eternal truth. We pray to the Most Holy Mary for all of these dark souls, so they will react and convert. Ave Maria! Imagine a conversation between the Son of God and a kind of Nobel prize winner and the most qualified Ph.D. professor of that time. To Nicodemus' amazement, Jesus Christ revealed that we all must be born of the Spirit (John 3:7B-15) Years later, St. Paul explained to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 6:19) that we have received the Holy Spirit from God, and it lives in us. We are a living temple of the Holy Spirit. We do not belong to ourselves. This is a big mystery of the creation. Jesus Christ came to Earth to save us through His life, passion, death, and resurrection. He showed us the Father's mercy and instructed us to be witnesses of mercy. His disciples — as we read in the Acts of the Apostles this Easter – were recognized for sharing their mercy with anyone. They were kind, compassionate, tenderhearted, and friendly to one another. They forgave one another while taking care of everyone's needs. They were imitating Christ's mercifulness. Today, we must be like the apostles of the post-paschal church — the early Catholic church born after the Resurrection. At the beginning of this troubled XXI century, we must walk toward this type of Church by embracing the mystery of Divine Mercy and putting it into action. We ask the Most Holy Virgin Mary to turn Her eyes of mercy toward us, helping us to develop a merciful behavior as an example to others. Ave Maria! Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed!
