In our non-stop battle against personal and collective sin, we must do prayer and penance.
Performing sacrifices for sins and offering our suffering is much needed. It restores our balance after our offenses to God and it helps bring us into the friendship of Jesus Christ.
Repentance and conversion require sacrifices. This might sound like medieval theology in today’s secular society. It’s not.
Sacrifices and suffering remind us that we, followers of Christ, are unique because we recognize the Cross as the sign of our identity.
We acknowledge our sinful condition, embrace our Cross, and keep our pilgrimage towards the glory of the Resurrection. Along the way we praise the Lord, rejoice, and also perform sacrifices for sins.
