Friends of the Rosary:
Evil or the devil camouflages well in its environment. We notice this in our secular society. In the Book of Genesis, it was the infamous figure of the serpent.
That animal insidiousness was unnoticed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Our progenitors thought the serpent was benign. Pope Francis warns that “the devil is a master tactician and shapeshifter able to instill doubt.”
In the biblical account, the prohibition imposed on Adam and Eve of eating from that tree “was God’s way of preserving them from the presumption of omnipotence, of making themselves masters of good and evil, which is temptation, a bad temptation even now.
In the episode of The Fall, we learn that the most dangerous threat to the human heart is pride, which is the beginning of all evil.
