Friends of the Rosary,
Like St. John the Baptist said, in today’s reading (John 3-22:30), “He must increase; I must decrease.”
At that time, John prepared the way of the Lord, presenting himself as a forerunner of the Messiah.
He was summing up the longing of the Israelites when, upon Jesus’ coming to be baptized, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”
Behold the one who has come to be sacrificed, bringing fulfillment.
John the Prophet did not draw attention to himself. Rather, he presented himself as a preparation.
Similarly, today we must decrease. which is to say, we must empty ourselves of our self and focus on Christ Jesus.
This way, we will open up a space in our hearts to receive the lavish grace of God.
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
