Friends of the Rosary,
As we read today Sunday (Jn 6:41-51), Christ announced the doctrine of the Eucharist by stating that He gives his body as spiritual food to those who believe in Him and want eternal life.
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
The Jews of that time didn’t acknowledge this teaching in the Eucharist. Nor did they accept Christ as divine, as the Son of God, and as the only One who had seen the Father.
They saw nothing in him but a native of Nazareth, a humble Galilean like themselves.
This unbelief is the same today. Man is proud of his intelligence and treats whatever he cannot grasp within the limited confines of that intellect as non-existent. The divine doesn’t fit in with man’s preconceived ideas. And his finite mind remains the sole judge and arbiter of all truth.
But we, the baptized in the true faith, have received the grace to believe in a loving God, and in his divine Son, Jesus Christ, who came on earth to bring us to heaven, and the Holy Spirit, who completes the work of sanctification in us.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Almighty for giving us the Christian faith.
Today is the Memorial of St. Clare of Assisi, which is superseded by the Sunday liturgy.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Clare, Pray for Us!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
