Friends of the Rosary,

Today, August 4, the Catholic Church honors St. John Vianney (1786-1859), a saint during the French Revolution, when all religious schools and churches were closed, and those who harbored priests were imprisoned.

At the Vianney farmhouse near Dardilly, France, fugitive priests were offered a refuge.

Known as the Cure D’Ars. In Ars, France, John Vianney was a parish priest for forty-two years, devoting himself to prayer, mortification, and pastoral works.

The saintly pastor endured many trials while performing many miracles.

With little sleep and less food, he catechized, preached, provided for the poor, and heard confessions. Up to sixteen hours a day were spent reconciling sinners to God.

His ardent prayer was:

“Lord, grant me the conversion of my parish; I am willing to suffer whatever you wish, for my entire life!”

Souls throughout the Christian world sought his guidance and advice.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
