Friends of the Rosary,
Today, December 9, the Church celebrates the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. This Catholic dogma states the Virgin Mary was free from original sin from the moment she was conceived in St. Ann’s womb.
God granted Mary this special grace and privilege to preserve her from any stain and prepare her for her role as the Mother of Christ.
Mary, full of grace through God, was redeemed from her conception.
The doctrine, one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church, was proclaimed by Blessed Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854:
“The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.”
Our Lady Immaculately Conceived is the patroness of the United States of America.
Today, a holy day of obligation, we also celebrate the Memorial of St. Juan Diego.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
