Friends of the Rosary,
One of today’s commemorations is Our Lady of Paris, one of the names given to the Blessed Mother. This devotion, dating to the first century, relates to St. Paul’s travels around France then.
The statue of Our Lady of Paris can be venerated in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Our Lady wears a beautiful dress and a crown on her head, symbols of royalty. She is holding her son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Savior of the world, has a ball in his hand, representing the earth.
In today’s principal reading of the Gospel (Mark 8:1-10), we see Jesus feeding a crowd of four thousand, God’s grace in action, with the disciples becoming the instruments of nourishment. By setting the loaves and fishes before the people, they discovered their mission, being themselves enhanced and transfigured.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
