Friends of the Rosary,

Today, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Junípero Serra (1713-1784), a Spaniard priest who founded 21 missions and converted thousands of Native Americans.

This Franciscan missionary was largely responsible for spreading the Catholic Church on the West Coast of the United States. He baptized over six thousand people and confirmed five thousand.

Junípero was the first Hispanic saint of the U.S. Pope Francis canonized Junípero Serra during his 2015 visit to the country.

He brought the Native Americans the gift of faith and a decent standard of living, winning their love.

He is represented with Franciscan habit, wearing a large crucifix or holding a crucifix accompanied by a young Native American boy.

July is traditionally associated with the Precious Blood of Our Lord.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Junípero Serra, Pray for Us!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!

To Jesus through Mary!
