Friends of the Rosary,
The opening sentence of St. Luke’s description of the Visitation is:
And Mary, rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah. [Lk. 1:39]
We see the sudden urgency of love that sent Mary hurrying over the hills. She rose on that impulse when Christ was being formed in her. This impulse of pure kindness on an expecting woman was Christ’s impulse.
People would say a pregnant woman had a duty to herself and their unborn child before anything or anyone else.
She greeted her cousin Elizabeth, and at the sound of her voice, John leapt for joy in his mother’s womb — an infant leaping for joy knowing the hidden Christ.
Even before He was born, Christ’s presence gave life. It’s Christ who is growing in us.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
