Friends of the Rosary:
This Thursday, May 13th is the solemnity of the Ascension Day of Jesus Christ into heaven. It’s a holy day of obligation unless your local Bishop has dispensed for attending mass. The Ascension is celebrated on the 40th day after Jesus’ resurrection.
In addition, this year is the Memorial Day of Our Lady of Fatima and the feast of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament. This title was given to the Virgin Mary a century a half ago to honor her relationship to the Holy Eucharist.
Regarding Fatima, we honor the Marian supernatural apparitions. On May 13, 1917, Our Lady of the Rosary — that’s how she’d introduce herself — appeared over the trees of the Cova da Iria, in Portugal, asking to pray for the conversion of sinners.
The three shepherd children — Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco, now saints — witnessed the miracles of Fatima and committed to pray and convince the world to daily recite the Holy Rosary.
Jesus, I Trust In You!
