The Secret of the Rosary — Based on the Book and Teachings of St. Louis de Montfort
The Secret of the Rosary
“The Secret of the Rosary” was written almost two and a half centuries ago by St. Louis Mary De Montfort.
The book has lost none of its freshness and timeliness, especially in the light of the specific requests of Our Lady of Fatima.
“The Secret of the Rosary” brings to a better understanding of the Rosary, not only as a prayer but especially as a way of spiritual life.
By meditating on the mysteries of the life, death, and glory of Jesus and Mary, we imitate their virtues.
St. Louis Mary De Montfort
The Catholic Church called Louis Mary De Montfort an “extraordinary preacher of the Rosary”.
He prolonged the mission of St. Dominic of Guzman and Blessed Alan de la Roche.
For St. Louis Mary De Montfort, the Rosary was not simply a method of prayer but a veritable school of Christian life.
He established it in every parish where he gave a mission.
He wrote that there were no limits to the power of the Rosary.
He attributed to it much of his success with sinners. It was certainly its most effective tool in his apostolic work.
“Let me but place my rosary around a sinner’s neck, and he will not escape me,” — were his words.
Preaching the Rosary
St. Louis Mary De Montfort said that “the Rosary is a priceless treasure that is inspired by God.”
He advised priests to keep the Rosary in their hearts and lips, so they would always preach it.
He wrote: “Almighty God has given it to you because He wants you to use it as a means to convert the most hardened sinners and the most obstinate heretics.”
“He has attached to it grace in this life and glory in the next.”
The Saints have said it faithfully and the Popes have endorsed it.
“God and His Blessed Mother will pour abundant grace into your soul, so that you may become God’s instrument for His glory; and his word, though simple, will do more good in one month than that of other preachers in several years.”
“The Rosary is not just a conglomeration of Our Fathers and Hail Marys, but on the contrary, it is a Divine summary of the mysteries of the life, passion, death, and glory of Jesus and Mary.”
