Our modern society pushes us to be successful, notorious, and influential. To change the world, first, we need to be well known.
However, the New Testament helps us to put our tangible reality into God’s eyes.
In one of the week’s readings (Matt 20:26-28), Jesus Christ brought his view to us, to our surprise: “Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Can we follow this path? We should, but except a few saints, the majority of us cannot. And that’s how we miss the whole picture of human existence.
Certainly, we have still a long road to go, until we reach the perfection and holiness as we are required.
