Friends of the Rosary:
We honor today, September 23, St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, a contemporary Italian priest and Capuchin friar, whose life was devoted to the Eucharist and prayer, including the Holy Rosary.
While praying before a cross, Padre Pio received the gift of the stigmata.
St. Padre Pio was a much sought-after spiritual advisor, confessor, and intercessor. Thousands flocked to his monastery of San Giovanni Rotundo, which became a worldwide point of pilgrimage.
Padre Pio was reportedly able to bi-locate, levitate, heal by touch, and read souls. Yet despite such notoriety, he would often say, “I only want to be a poor friar who prays.”
He fervently prayed the Rosary every day.
For him, holding the Rosary was like holding our Blessed Mother’s hand.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Padre Pio, Pray for Us!
