Friends of the Rosary:

Today, on the first of November, we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. This feast was instituted to honor all of the saints — both canonized and uncanonized, both known and unknown — now in Heaven enjoying the beatific vision of God.

Among the saints in heaven are some whom we have known, including many relatives (María Blanca, in my case). All lived on earth journeys like our own. They were baptized and faithful to Christ’s teaching. They have departed before us to the heavenly home. From there they are calling on us to follow them.

We all have this universal call to holiness, intended to join the saints in heaven. For that, we follow in Jesus Christ’s footsteps, seeking the will of the Father in all things and devoting ourselves to the glory of God and the service of our neighbors.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, “the perfect life with the Most Holy Trinity—this communion of life and love with the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, the angels, and all the blessed—is called heaven.”

“Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfillment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme, definitive happiness.”

The Gospel of the Beatitudes, read today, while it shows their happiness, shows the road the saints followed. And the feast of All Saints inspires us with tremendous hope.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
All Saints, Pray for Us!
