As we celebrate the month dedicated to All Souls in purgatory, we wonder about what special merits we will need to demonstrate on the final judgment of God before the Resurrection.
We certainly don’t want to arrive into the judgment day hands-empty. The possibility that Jesus Christ tells us “I don’t know you” scares us deeply. So, what to do? Well, to be welcomed into Paradise we need to love others. Why? Because God is love.
As St. Matthew described in the scene of the last judgment, those who fed the hungry, received the stranger and visited the prisoner are welcomed into God’s kingdom. But those who neglected to care for others are sent into “the eternal fire.”
