The Christian plan of salvation is crystal clear. First, we must love God the Father above all people and all things. Second, we must be merciful and charitable with everyone.
In their pride, people try to find a middle ground. Some groups set new avenues; others find redefinition. The Evil One takes advantage of this confusion and encourages people to keep up with whatever view denies the divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ.
The Son of God, knowing all of this, he said to his Apostles. “I have come to bring not peace but the sword,” as we recently read (Mt 10:34—11:1). St. Michael, the Prince of the Heavenly Host, is represented with a sword. Also, we see statues of St. Peter and other saints holding swords. The Holy Rosary itself is a spiritual sword.
Certainly, we are in the middle of a furious battle. The eternal soul of billions of humans is at stake. The road to salvation is tough, and Jesus Christ talks plainly about it.
