In today’s Sunday reading (Lk 14:25-33), Jesus Christ encourages us to put Him in the center of our life, radically trusting in Him, beyond anyone else, including our relatives and our own life. He formulates this in a shocking way.
Does today’s reading mean that we stop loving our father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters?
On the contrary, it means that we need to love anyone — willing the good of the other — in the framework of the Divinity.
At the Rosary Network, we say at the beginning of the prayer that “we live for God”. My wife liked highlighting this sentence. Did she love me? Absolutely, and her love was more intense, more everlasting, that a simple humanly rooted love.
By becoming disciples of Jesus Christ, we try to put into action the love of God in others.
