Friends of the Rosary:
Today, August 28, God’s Church honors St. Augustine, the fifth-century saint, bishop, author, and philosopher who became an influential mind in the history of salvation.
He famously said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”
The teachings — well expressed in his autobiographical Confessions and The City of God — were the foundation of Christian doctrine for a millennium and even today.
His conversion, due to the prayers and tears of her mother St. Monica, is a great example of how the Providence of God works.
St. Augustine lived for God, in an exemplary life, with fasting, prayers, and good works, meditating on the law of the Lord by day and night.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Augustine, Pray for Us!
