Today, Wednesday of Holy Week is traditionally known as Spy Wednesday, because we remember the treachery of Judas Iscariot, who made a bargain with the high priest to betray Jesus for thirty silver pieces, as we read today in the New Testament (Matt 26:14-16; Mark 14:10-11; Luke 22:1-6).
This day ends the official Lenten period. Tomorrow, we will enter into the Holy Triduum, the three liturgical days of the Holy Week: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
Also, today is the optional memorial of a great holy man, St. Vincent Ferrer.
